Van Leer

Without being TOO LOUD, Van Leer is the heaviest band you haven't yet heard. Van Leer is an original music band and a dramatic cover band with a CD, "Thumbs Up!"

Above all, MUSIC IS ESSENTIAL Without it, life is a journey through a desert.

The current makeup of the band is as follows. Please click on each name for photo and bio.

Listen to a song by Lee Van Leer / Van Leer   ...and an instrumental by Lee Van Leer / Van Leer.

Check out Lee Van Leer's BLUES side by listening to "Goin' To The Dogs" and "Roll On Through The Night". "A Love to Last a Lifetime Long" is my popular soul ballad. All tunes posted here are © Lee Van Leer, from the CD "Thumbs Up!" You may purchase the CD at events where Van Leer is performing.

Soul Instigators

From the north shore of Lake Ontario comes this issue's feature band Soul Instigators. Formed in 2009 as "L.B." (for Live Band") as house band/jam hosts for a club on Danforth Ave. (Hwy. 5) in Toronto, ON, the band remained at this steady weekly gig 'til early June 2011.

With only one personnel change during that time (bassist-guitarist Wayne Munzy joined in 2010), the band became "The Danforth Project" at that time, finally settling on "Soul Instigators" in June 2011.

The members are Bleed; - front vocals & guitar (Scarborough, ON), his son Scott Sharp, drums, Lee Van Leer - organ and vocals (Colborne, ON), and Wayne Munzy - bass, guitar and backup vocals (Toronto, ON).

Their repertoire consists of a diverse variety of covers from 1959 to present-day plus a varied selection of originals mostly written by Bleed;.

The band has a full sound owing to finely-crafted arrangements, the use of 15" speakers exclusively in the backline plus the fact that the organ plays through a Leslie cabinet, something that so many of today's bands are unwilling to "lug around".

We here at the Silver Pages fanzine feel that Soul Instigators will definitely be a band to watch in the 2010s and beyond.
